    Spirit is seeking a Senior Manager of Emergency Response & Recovery to join our safety team.  This role manages the emergency response and recover policies, procedures, and programs to ensure compliance with regulations and company standards.  Key functions of this role are Emergency management, disaster management, family assistance management, and leadership to ensure proper actions are carried out during the response to airport emergencies, natural disasters, aviation accidents or incidents. This role will also manage the Spirit's Special Assistance Team (SAT) Family Assistance program, including its response to passengers and team members. 


    • Serves as a subject matter expert when interfacing with Airport Authorities, First Response Agencies, and Civil Authorities about Spirit’s Station Response Plan, as needed. 
    • Administer the regular testing of Company Emergency and Disaster Response & Recovery plans by way of mock exercises and full-scale drills, and compile a report with recommendations and/or action items.
    • Ensure the Special Assistance Team program maintains compliance with the Aviation Disaster Family Assistance Act of 1996.
    • Maintain training records and status information for all Spirit Special Assistance Team members.
    • Liaise with Inflight, Flight Operations, AFA, and ALPA in the development of response protocols for crew members.
    • Maintain the emergency response and business continuity manual (ERBC) currency to include required changes through regulations.
    • Refine and coordinate Spirit’s Station Emergency Response Plan with Airports throughout our system, including our international destinations.
    • Develop and maintain appropriate quarterly station emergency response training tools for our Customer Service teams in coordination with Airport Services.
    • Develop and maintain a scalable training delivery program that addresses the uniqueness of Spirit’s business model, with language translation capabilities.
    • Perform a bi-annual review of Airport Response Plans at the Spirit stations and identify gaps, redundancies, and areas of improvement within the plans of the respective Airports, the local emergency management offices, and various civil authorities.
    • Participate, facilitate, and observe Station Emergency Response exercises at Spirit locations.
    • Provide ongoing support and group training sessions to team members at Spirit locations.
    • Perform an Annual Review of station emergency response and business continuity checklists contained in the Emergency Response Manual to identify any changes that may need to be implemented.
    • Coordinate local station plans with other international carriers to ensure resources will be available should an incident or accident occurs in a destination with limited resources.
    • Provide training and support to our Station teams when dealing with serious medical emergencies and/or deaths of passengers or team members.
    • Deploy as a member of the Emergency Response Team to any destination that has a serious incident or accident as part of the logistical and/or humanitarian response effort.
    • Monitor the station reviews/risk assessments to ensure station readiness and provide input or assistance to the General Managers when required.
    • Ensure the equipment and materials required for use in an emergency response (ER bin contents and supplies) are available for deployment in the event of an emergency and all new station openings.
    • Contributes to internal newsletters, communicating significant information or trends to stakeholders.
    • May perform other responsibilities as assigned.


    • Four-year college degree desired, preferably in Aviation, science or engineering field.
    • Work experience, preferably in 14CFR Part 121 air carrier operations; ground operations, Emergency response, other operations, safety - or a combination thereof.
    • Basic computer programming and statistical analysis experience preferred.
    • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite programs, including database and spreadsheet programs.
    • Proficient verbal, written, and presentation communication skills.
    • Ability to travel up to 25%.
